Another Idiotic Flaw at TripAdvisor

Lame WarningWho are these educated people at TripAdvisor that come up with these ideas?

Yet again property and the owners reputation can be damaged  by the competition.  Whats stopping us from posting purposely exaggerated positive reviews on the competitions  page?  knowing the chances are they will get flagged. Are these Baffoons purposely coming up with easy ways to damage someones reputation?

And who does TripAdvisor think they are, by just punishing an owner, because they “have reasonable cause to believe” the review may be fake.. thats a bit like putting someone in the cage ‘cos you BELIEVE they are guilty… How about PROVING it before posting such an obnoxious message.

It’s as clear as punch that TripAdvisor has not got a clue how to weed out true reviews from fake reviews, we have posted more than 135 Fake Reviews in just 2 months.. 40 lies posted just this week!!.. and TA just posts them.

We are going to test and see how easily it is to get one of these obnoxious warning’s next to a property, although we know it’s not that easy, cos so far none of the 135+ fake reviews that have been posted so far have been flagged.

We are a small group of 9 people that are tired of the way TripAdvisor chooses to conduct their business, mainly because of the total lack of consideration towards “owners” in the hospitality world. We are based in the USA, Europe and New Zealand.

  1. haha Baffoons, so true.
We are loving what you are doing and are 100% behind you. For years now tripadvisor think they are untouchable, but at the end of the day they are nothing without users and you guys are getting the message through to a lot of the right people.. the snowball is gathering speed.
    Good Luck
    P&W

  2. Please have a look at our website, and scroll down to the end of the opening page, where you will see our reaction to the ‘red badge of shame’ that Tripadvisor recently slapped on our listing. I have written probably 30-40 messages begging them to simply *explain* why they have done this to us, and suggested that they personally contact every single reviewer to inquire whether the reviews are genuine or not, whether they were pressured or rewarded in any way, etc…Tripadvisor has refused to offer any information, saying that their ‘integrity investigations’ are ‘confidential’. How can I defend myself against something they won’t even have the decency to tell me? I suspect a jealous competitor (who wrote fake negative reviews against me last year, which I proved and which were mostly removed) or a particular vengeful guest must be behind the campaign to malign us.
Tripadvisor tries to hide behind their tangle of legal disclaimers, but I am now documenting the damages (cancelled bookings, no new internet bookings) we have incurred due to Tripadvisor’s public, untrue and unexplained slander of our good name.

(The website for our hotel, Incredible Homestay in New Delhi, is http://www.incrediblehomes.in.)

  3. Exactly same issue for me; all of a sudden this idiot red warning at my guesthouse page. Send so many messages to get explanation on what went wrong where, but no reply from these arrogant Tripadvisor no names.
They hide behind their confidential policies and procedures and will not point out why (or for what review) they place that red flag.
Is there anything I can do against this? Anyone knows how long they will keep that warning?

  4. Then why not stop using TripAdvisor? TripAdvisor LLC is nothing and worthless without active users. Also not to ever subscribe to their “Business Listing”. I have not logged into that site for months now and getting close to a year and plan to keep it that way. Purchasing a domain name and website hosting plan produce better and more reliable results than TripAdvisor’s Business Listings without having to spend thousands of dollars per year.
